I am currently conducting research on sea-level-rise and racialized flooding in the South Carolina Lowcountry with a focus on water infrastructure. Specifically, I follow how floodwaters interact with remnants of the plantation, as an ecological and political formation maintained through policy, heritage preservation, and natural conservation. To do so, I examine how water is channeled by hard and soft infrastructures in neighborhoods and wildlife preserves while working with community groups advocating for greater mitigation funding.
